Retreat overview

Five hours to slow down, together

Antar Yatra is a five-hour evening Divine Experience for 30 Yatri, healing seekers. It moves from breath and sound into stillness, then into a sacred fire where each Yatri lets go of something they are ready to set down, and closes with a premium Ratri Satvik Bhojan buffet.

30Yatri in one circle
5 hrsof practice and Atithi Seva
1sacred fire for release
Who leads
DharmikVibes curates the evening and its Atithi Seva (hospitality offered as service); Namastey Studio, our Dharmik Partner, leads every practice.
Open to beginners
No prior yoga or music practice is needed, only a willingness to slow down for one evening.
Who it suits
Adults seeking calm, emotional release and a reset from routine. That includes guests visiting India for the first time: everything is explained as we go.

The arc of the evening

Breathe, resonate, rest, release, gather.

  1. Yatri seated cross-legged with eyes closed during breathwork

Breathe · Breathwork and Shiva call-in

Settle the breath and call in Shiva, who dissolves what no longer serves.

  2. The facilitator playing a set of hanging chimes

Resonate · Sound and Soul Jamming

Move from listening to making sound together.

  3. A Yatri lying still with an eye cover during shavasana

    Rest · Shavasana

Let the body absorb the sound under a soft sound bath.

  4. Flames of the evening bonfire against a dark sky

    Release · Agni Visarjan

Each Yatri offers something they are ready to set down to the sacred fire, then a few quiet minutes to ground before the circle closes.

  5. A jug of cucumber, mint and lemon water

    Gather · Ratri Satvik Bhojan

Close in community over a premium Satvik buffet.

Each indoor session hands over to the next without a break, so energy rises through the jamming and settles fully in shavasana.

Session 1 · 4:00 PM · 30 min

Meet and greet

Arrive, feel safe, and meet the people you will share the fire with.

  • A warm welcome. Cucumber, mint and lemon water, or green tea, served in the circle.
  • One word each. Every Yatri shares their name and one word for how they feel today.
  • Both hosts introduced. The Yatra Coordinator introduces both hosts; the facilitator explains the arc.
  • Phones away. Phones go on silent and into the bag until Ratri Satvik Bhojan.

Session 2 · 4:30 PM · 15 min

Breathwork and Moment Meditation

Fifteen minutes to bring the mind out of the day and into the room.

  • 0 to 2 min, Settle. Sukhasana (easy cross-legged seat), eyes closed, natural breath.
  • 2 to 8 min, Breathe. Deep belly breathing, Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril), Bhramari (humming bee).
  • 8 to 15 min, Shiva call-in. Chanting of Om Namah Shivaya, then silent awareness of the present moment.

A suggested split; the final sequence rests with the facilitator. Shiva is invoked as the one who dissolves what no longer serves, which is exactly what the fire will do later.

Session 3 · 4:45 PM · about 1 hr 45 min

Sound and Soul Jamming

The heart of the evening, where the group moves from listening to making sound together.

  1. Rhythm warm-up. Clapping and simple percussion handed to every Yatri.
  2. Call and response. Chanting and bhajans.
  3. Free jam. Open singing, drumming and gentle movement.
  4. Water break. Five minutes at the midpoint.
  5. Slow-down. The room quietens into bowls and chimes, then shavasana.

Led on the facilitator’s own crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes and drums.

Session 4 · 6:30 PM · 20 min

Shavasana

Twenty minutes of guided rest to let the body absorb the sound.

  • Body scan. Guided body scan from feet to crown.
  • Sound bath. Soft crystal bowl and chime sound bath.
  • Waking up. Fingers, toes, a slow roll to the right side, then sitting up.

In the room: lights dimmed, eye covers placed, a light blanket as the room cools.

The bonfire release

Each Yatri writes down something they are ready to set down, perhaps a worry, a habit, a resentment or a belief, and offers it to Agni, the sacred fire. It is the emotional peak of the evening, held gently with live guitar and a singer. Nobody is asked to share anything personal aloud, and the slip is private.

  1. 10 minGather

Masala chai, tulsi-ginger kadha or haldi doodh around the fire, with soft guitar.

  2. 10 minWrite

Each Yatri writes what they are ready to let go of. No one reads it.

  3. 20 minOffer

One or two at a time, slips go into the fire, with Swaha if they wish.

  4. 5 minGround

Feet on the floor, three slow breaths, naming five things you can see.

  5. 5 minCarry forward

One intention for the months ahead, on a second slip that is kept.

  6. 15 minSing and close

Bhajans and sing-along songs lift the circle, then a short closing round before Ratri Satvik Bhojan.

Fire, kept safe

  • A fire keeper tends the fire for the full hour and does nothing else.
  • Sand, water and a fire extinguisher are kept within 3 metres.
  • Seating in a double arc, at least 2 metres from the flames, with a marked path to offer.
  • Plain paper slips only: no plastic, glossy card or photos.
  • Shawls and dupattas tucked in when walking up; the path back is lit.

If fire is not possible

In rain or strong wind we move to a covered area with a small metal brazier. If fire is not possible, the same release is held in a flower-filled water urli (Jal Visarjan), kept just as sacred.

Held gently, kept safe

Care on the evening

Care through the whole of it

A Care Lead, a trained counsellor, is with the group throughout and has no other duty. If anyone feels overwhelmed, the Care Lead sits with them quietly, a little apart, while the facilitator holds the circle. There is no pressure to rejoin.

The fire release is a symbolic ritual, not therapy, and we say so to the group. Writing and offering are optional; sitting and watching is a full part of the circle.

The circle’s agreements

“What’s shared in this circle stays in this circle. We listen without judgment, offer no unsolicited advice, and don’t try to fix one another.”

Nobody is asked to share anything personal aloud. Anything you write stays yours.

Before you join, a gentle health note. When you reserve, we’ll ask a few confidential questions so we can support you well: about asthma or breathing difficulties, panic or anxiety, a history of trauma, bipolar disorder or psychosis, a recent bereavement or suicide attempt, current medication, and sensitivity to smoke or incense. At registration, please also tell us about pregnancy, high blood pressure, heart conditions, epilepsy or recent surgery, so the facilitator can adapt the practice. Answers are kept private and reviewed by a professional. Please don’t write them on this site; we ask privately once you reserve.
